St. Bernadette, the visionary of Our Lady of Lourdes had a life full of suffering. Doubts and derisions about authenticity of her vision comes first from her own family, and then from her own community, and then from the Church investigators.
Through all these difficulties that came to her because of the apparitions, Bernadette was given an interior strength:
“There was something in me that enabled me to rise above everything. I was tackled from all sides, but nothing mattered and I was not afraid.”
First, she was given the eyes to see what her companions could not see.
Then she was given the grace to strengthen her faith.
Then she was given the courage to face the betrayals of her mission.
To her was the first time that the Blessed Mother revealed herself as the Immaculate Conception. And she saw a vision of our Lady of Lourdes with Rosary in her hands.
With a holy life that she led, she is one of the incorruptibles produced by the Catholic Church.
